Swap one drive for a ride

Replace one short car journey this week with a bike ride.

Most car trips are short, and short trips are where a bike shines: no parking, door to door in much the same time. Pick one regular journey of a few miles and ride it this week, at the speed of a person noticing the street. Panniers or a trailer carry the shopping, and many councils run try-before-you-buy schemes. A 2021 study of European cities found that moving trips from car to bike does far more per person than switching to an electric car.
