Day 12 ยท Shopping
Second-hand before new
Before you buy something new, spend five minutes checking whether it exists second-hand.

Most things we need already exist somewhere nearby, lightly used. Before ordering new, look for the same item in charity shops, local selling and giving groups, and refurbished listings. It is usually cheaper, and nothing new had to be made. Then ask one more question: am I replacing something worn out, or adding one more? If it is one more, the money might bring more joy spent on a day out.
