Borrow the book

Before buying your next book, check whether your library has it or will order it.

A library card is the original sharing economy. One copy, read by dozens. Most libraries will order a title you ask for, lend e-books to your phone, and give you a warm room and free internet while they are at it. Today, look up your local branch, join if you have lapsed, and put one book on request. If they cannot get it, try a friend's shelf or a charity shop before a new copy. The book gets read either way. Only one of these routes prints another one.
