One day. One change.

Day 25 · Nature

A pot of herbs

Put a pot of basil, mint or parsley on the sunniest windowsill you have.

Packaged herbs are the most expensive way to buy leaves, and half the bag usually wilts before you use it. A living pot costs about the same and keeps going for months. Choose what you actually cook with. Sit it near a window, water when the top of the soil is dry, and snip from the top so it bushes out. Basil and mint from a supermarket pot can be split into two or three plants with a little care. Fresh herbs on tap, no plastic film, no waste.
